trick or treat

This is Lawson's first Halloween, and I really wanted to dress him up.  So, while my mother was in town, we went out and bought Lawson a halloween costume.  The problem was that he was too small for anything we were going to get, so we went with a cow and we figured that we could just slide him through the neck (which we did).  His feet are just above the legs of the outfit.
Lets just say, he was not all that happy with being dressed up like a cow.
We were able to find this ghost shirt also.  This one was at least only semi-big on him.
Last but not least, Grandma Roberta brought over some new outfits for Lawson.  They were so cute, we had to try at least one on.
He liked this outfit way more than being a cow.

Manitou Coffin Race 2008

Eric's wildland fire fighting crew were able to participate in the Manitou coffin race.  They did not win first, but they put up a good fight for it.  Out of 45 coffins, they came in second (and that is pretty darn good!!).  Everyone had a great time though.

Their coffin even had flames!  It was a good thing that they are all fire fighters, just in case.

puppy play

Since we have a new addition to our world, we are trying to make sure that Chewy still feels included.  Chewy has been very good with the Lawson though.  We are all very pleased with her.

what an amazing joy!

Lawson was born on October 3, 2008 at 3:14 in the afternoon.  He weighed 5 pounds 12 ounces and was 19 1/4 inches long.  He was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen in my whole life!  He did give us a little bit of a scare in the beginning.  The umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck and he did have to spend the night in NICU because of it.  Despite that, both Lawson and I were allowed to leave the hospital the next day.

The labor itself seemed really easy, granted I could not feel anything below my bellybutton at that point.  I was working on my second epidural because the first one stopped working.  Eric and I were still relieved to have it over though.
(Can you tell?)

All the grandparents were captivated by this new addition into their world.

Now, more pictures of Lawson's first couple of days.

What a good looking family!
